Art Basel, Switzerland is known as the biggest contemporary art fair in the world and many believe the most prestigious for a gallery to participate. The inaugural event was organized in 1970 in Basel and saw immediate success. 
 
Art  Basel fair brings the international art world together. It features over 200 leading galleries and more than 4,000 artists from five continents. Many high-quality exhibitions take place concurrently in and around Basel, creating a region-wide art week.
 
Art Basel in Switzerland is the most influential art show on a global scale. Even though its events in Miami and Hong Kong enjoy immense popularity in their own right, the show in Messe Basel is where it all originated and its traditions and modernity create a unique blend for art lovers. 
 
                        
                     

                     
 
Art Basel is a for-profit, privately owned and managed, international art fair staged annually in Basel, Switzerland; Miami Beach; Hong Kong and from 2022, Paris. Art Basel works in collaboration with the host city's local institutions to help grow and develop art programs.

VOLTA began life in Basel in 2005 as a collaboration between dealers and friends to support ambitious international galleries to participate in the art markets’ major cities. For the 2023 Basel edition VOLTA has moved to a new location. Klybeck 610 is an architectural jewel designed by architects Suter + Suter in 1967. It is based in the Klybeck district and now places VOLTA in the heart of the city’s international art market and a short 15 minute walk from Art BaselArt Basel and photobasel VIPs gain free entry to VOLTA. General admission ticket holders for these fairs are offered a discounted admission.

There are a lot of art fairs in the world but I think that Art Basel in Miami Beach is the best one. The crowd is the international one with really incredible people coming annually from all over the world. The art galleries are the most famous and international ones. The art is absolutely wonderful.

Art Basel is moving from its current temporary location to the historic Grand Palais, Paris, France once restoration work there is completed in 2024.
